Armorik Classic is the result of maturation in bourbon casks of different ages. Smooth, unctuous and rich, it highlights the expertise of our master blender and the quality of maturation on the Breton coast.

Made from organic French barley and distilled in our traditional pot stills, it shows our desire to create an exceptional single malt that reflects the Breton character: a rich and fruity whisky, respectful of the environment.

Gold medalist at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition and silver medalist at the International Spirits Challenge 2021 and International Wine & Spirit Competition 2021.

NOSE: Intense and complex. The slightly spicy cereals come out first followed by a touch of exotic fruits (mango, passion).
MOUTH: Attack on fresh fruits (peach and apricot) then beautiful sweetness with vanilla notes. Light toasted notes accompanied the fatness and power of the whisky.
FINISH: Nice length, lively and warm, with a hint of iodine.

Warenghem

Set just inland from Brittany’s craggy northern coast, Warenghem Distillery sits on the edge of the River Léguer in the town of Lannion. Its water source, the Rest Avel spring, rises from the pink granite hills that dot the landscape, flowing through mineral-rich stone before reaching the distillery. The Atlantic's salty air and frequent mists sweep through the ageing warehouses, contributing to a maturation climate that is at once coastal and temperate.

The story begins in 1900, when Léon Warenghem founded the distillery to produce herbal liqueurs. It wasn't until the 1980s that whisky entered the picture, guided by the ambitious vision of Gilles Leizour. After years of experimentation, Armorik Breton Single Malt was launched in 1998, becoming the first French single malt distilled and matured entirely on home soil. Today, under the direction of David Roussier, the family’s whisky legacy continues with a firm focus on local identity and sustainability. Warenghem played a central role in securing a protected geographical indication for Breton whisky, formally recognising the region’s contribution to the whisky world.

Production remains traditional, yet distinctly French. Barley is sourced from local growers and malted off-site, then mashed with granite-filtered spring water in a lauter tun. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel over several days, allowing fruity esters to develop before double distillation in copper pot stills. The spirit is matured in a variety of cask types, including ex-bourbon, sherry, and new French oak, all within Brittany’s maritime climate. The resulting whisky is rich with orchard fruit, gentle spice, honeyed malt, and a faint coastal salinity. Bottled without added colour or chill filtration, Armorik stands as a confident expression of French craftsmanship and Celtic spirit.
