Distilled from cane juice, this pot still rum is some of the oldest to come from the Mhoba Distillery at Malalane. It was aged entirely in the lowveld region of Nkomazi, in bourbon casks.
Nose: Tropical fruit, mint, charred driftwood.
Taste: Funky, oaky, and robust. It’s really unlike any other cane juice rum.
There’s grilled pineapple, overripe banana, furniture polish, old leather, and maybe a couple of lemon drops. Lingering oak finish. This is a first class flight to South Africa, via Jamaica and Guadeloupe. – Robert T. Salmon
