The official release of our Haywire Lunar Red celebrates the upcoming Year of the Snake. This wine is a continuation of a tradition that began with the winery’s first Lunar New Year wine in 2014.
A blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, this wine has an intense nose, with notes of dark cherry, black licorice, leather, and a subtle earthy component. Medium bodied on the palate, balanced with chalky tannins. Stewed fruits, a hint of cherry cola, fennel, and dark cocoa fill the flavour profile. The finish is lengthy with bright lifting acidity. For pairing, best matches include ginger beef, smoky sauces, dark soy, Szechuan, and wok seared vegetables.
