In 2008, Chichibu Distillery was opened by founder, Ichiro Akuto, and it was the first new distillery to open in Japan in 3 decades.

Ichiro’s grandfather owned the famed Hanyu Distillery, which closed in 2000. Ichiro then took possession of all the whisky stocks left behind in the Hanyu distillery and used them in the blending production of the world famous Ichiro’s Malt Card Series. Chichibu whiskies are much in demand globally due to limited production and
award winning quality. Ichiro Akuto is revered globally as a master craft distiller, producing some of Japan’s best whiskies today.

Ichiro Akuto creates this multiple Category Best Limited Edition award winning whisky. A venerable blend of Malt and Grain world whiskies chosen by Ichiro from some of the best distilleries in the world. These are a minimum of 10 years of age and are blended with
Chichibu and Hanyu single malt whiskies and aged for additonal time, in various different casks, in Japan’s accelerated ageing climate.
