The Scotch Malt Whisky Society has been bottling some of the world’s best whiskies exclusively for its members since its origin in Edinburgh back in 1983. Since October 2012, The Strath has hosted their monthly “Outturn” tastings, where society members and their guests are able to sample the Society’s brand new releases. Almost a decade and a half later, we’re proud to bring together the SMWS and The Strath’s very own Whisky Folk for these new co-presented “Showcase” tasting events. The perfect bi-monthly complement to the Outturns.

The SMWS Showcase tastings are designed for both non-SMWS members and existing SMWS members alike. They feature eight exquisite, exclusive, and exciting examples of the SMWS’s range of whiskies – with a focus on whiskies released in the past two months. This allows the whisky-curious to discover what makes the society so special, and is also ideal for existing society members to catch up after missing an Outturn, or perhaps simply try some whiskies again in a completely different lineup.

Whisky Folk aims to be the most accessible, inclusive, and approachable whisky appreciation club around. Both seasoned whisky nerds and complete newbies are welcome, and wherever you are on your whisky journey, we’d love to travel alongside you. For anyone interested in attending without tasting the whiskies (either with a friend who is coming to taste, or simply as a whisky-curious non-drinker), please send Adam an email at adam@thestrath.ca to request a complimentary non-drinking spot.
