Glendullan
Signatory 100 Proof 2012
Single Malt Whisky

Under the busy canopy of Dufftown, Glendullan has long been a distillery that gets on with things, quietly turning out a dependable Speyside malt while flashier neighbours soak up the attention. It began in 1897 under the guidance of William Williams, an Aberdeen blender and broker, and over the decades it slipped, as so many did, into the larger family of companies that now sit under Diageo’s umbrella.
The place you see today is the product of change rather than romance. A major modernisation arrived in the early 1960s, then in 1972 a new distillery was built beside the old one and run alongside it for a time. Eventually the original site bowed out in 1985, leaving the newer plant to carry the name forward and keep the spirit style consistent.
Glendullan’s public face is often tied to The Singleton, where “The Singleton of Glendullan” was positioned for markets like North America. That role suits it. The distillate tends to be straightforward and friendly, with orchard fruit, soft malt sweetness, and a fresh, lightly grassy edge that keeps things lively without shouting. The stillhouse setup is workmanlike and balanced, with three wash stills and three spirit stills, geared toward producing a clean, repeatable character that plays well in blends and behaves beautifully when given patient time in oak.
