Very sweet and bourbon-like, the nose delivered vanilla fudge, sugar puffs, toffee, spun sugar, honey and Dr Peppers, but complicated itself with cinnamon stick, lemon, perfumed rice and oak. Water nudged it sideways lemon to orange, cinnamon to clove, toffee to butterscotch and vanilla fudge to chocolate fudge and ice-cream.
That sweetness somersaulted around the palate cherries in syrup, vanilla cheesecake, caramel sauce, banana toffee, Murray mints definitely one for a sweet tooth, though clove spice and dry oaky notes provided interest in the finish of what is fundamentally an easy-drinking dram.
