From The Official Website

The Balvenie Madeira Cask is a lively and summery single malt finished in casks previously which previously held Madeira wine. In historic times, ships set sail filled with casks of Madeira wine around the New World. Throughout their journey, casks were exposed to the heat of the sun, naturally sweetening the wine it held.

Malt Master David C. Stewart has enjoyed times exploring the Madeira region and wines they produce, inspiring his experimentation of the cask type for finishing. This is not the first time David has used Madeira casks – previous expressions have been of older ages. This release has a lighter, livelier character.

NOSE: Overflowing flavours of blackcurrants and brambles slowly layer upon gingery syrup and delicate spice.

TASTE: Ripe fruitiness from fresh peaches lead to a citrus orange zing, hazelnuts and crisp oakiness coating the pallet.
